we couldn’t have had more beautiful fall colors than this. we all said that a day earlier or a day later, couldn’t even have compared to this beauty we were blessed with. as you can see, the colors are stunning and so are the people.  i adore these four, not just because they are loyal clients, not just because he is the best dentist ever (check him out if you are in need of a dentist SERIOUSLY!), not just because they are beatiful, but really just because they are some of the most amazing people i know. genuine, kind, full of love and respect for each other, and their kids are just adored more than i could ever put into words.

yes i am still the worst blogger. i have accepted this about myself. im trying but its just so hard keeping up with everything in business and raising two little boys. blogging seems to be the last on my priority list.  but i try. please know that i try. (0;   don’t forget to get on my books for family photos for the holidays. yes its almost november, which means its almost december, which means its almost christmas!! GASP!! we can have a cute little winter wonderland studio shots with the kiddos or do some fun fall family stuff outside. its your pick.  i’m not one of the places in the mall. i’m here to capture your family. to get your personalities. i do this as my job. it puts food on the table for me and my two boys and i am blessed to be able to do that.  it’s why i do what i love. it’s why i rely on my clients to refer me to their friends and family. there are lots of photographers out there these days but you chose me and i love you for that.  did you know that all the chain studios in the mall and such offer digital negative options these days?  you cant get out of there without dropping upwards of $400 and more.  And for what?  We all in the industry kinda laugh about that.  Well here is me….this is what i do…this is what i capture…the chains cant touch me xoxo

i first have to start this post with a sincere apology. i say every single time i blog that i am going to do better about posting often and always set a goal. as you can see i fail miserable at this task LOL.  running a business on my own and two boys to take care of leaves my time limited. i have tried so hard to keep all you beautiful blog readers up to date with all my shoots but i can’t seem to do it. i need to just find someone to blog for me since i cant find the time, but until then, i truly will try to blog more. i have so many incredibly beautiful and fun families, seniors, tiny new babies, and wedding full of love to share that i have had the priveledge of capturing over the last few months. my facebook seems to get more pictures posted since it quicker to do that then blog so be sure to find me on there and add me.  i’m sure to put a smile on your face with my crazy ramblings about being a parent, make your tummy grumble with some of my yummy new recipes i have been trying out, or treat you to some beautiful photos of my lovely clients.

also, a very quick, but very very important note that we have only about 2 months left for family christmas pictures. yes it’s that time of year and our weather is going bad quickly. lets get out there before my schedule gets completely booked and put your beautiful family in front of my camera.  email me to get on the schedule!

and now…without further ado…one of my beautiful families i had the pleasure of capturing recently. and here is a perfect example of HOW YOU SHOULD DRESS FOR YOUR PHOTO SHOOT.  i love when clients listen to my suggestions and go all out.  effort in your clothes and accessories truly make a difference in your pictures and i couldn’t be more happy when a family shows up rockin their own style but coordinate with each other (NOT MATCH).  it shows them, their fun personalities, their love and i just want to squeeze them.

hi everyone! it’s me! i’m alive!!! (0;  life has been busy and kept me from blogging all the beautiful weddings and families i had the privilege of capturing recently. i know i promised to do better about blogging but somehow managed to get worse. eeeek.  the funny emails and facebook messages i get from clients and friends wondering if i had fallen of the face of the earth brought me lots of smiles. so in the hopes of actually making myself blog some past stuff i am going to start today and plan on doing at least one post a week. i will never get caught up on all the past stuff but i am going to do my best to share some of my favorites. i had so many beautiful weddings, one just last weekend, and i will be flying to california with my sidekick in a few weeks to shoot another one. here is just a quick shot to go with all this text. much more to come soon! oh and be sure to email me to get on my schedule for spring/summer family photos. we are finally getting some sun so my schedule will be filling up quickly!

(updated) just a heads up that I only have now 3 open dates, for photo shoots for 2010 and they are going soooo fast.  let me know asap if you want to snag one before I am completely booked. i hate turning people away in november…it makes me sad.  and i will be posting the oh so adorable christmas card template options just as soon as I finish editing these weddings. so keep your eyes peeled for those.

the sweet sunshine seems to be here to stay and I couldn’t be happier to shoot some beautiful people.  meet jared and mini jared. there is something about the bond between a dad and son and it was so fun to capture that.  jared is a very talented graphic designer and shooting artistic people makes photos all the more fun.  here are a few to share from our shoot.

I shoot a lot of photographers and their families and it is always more nerve wracking then a regular shoot. It is also is super flattering to be asked by them….Shannon however makes me the most nervous. I adore her and of course her work. Lucky for me she is also one of my best friends so that helps calm the nerves a bit.  For Fathers Day she had me do this shoot. It doesn’t hurt at all that Chris is super handsome and she has the cutest kids. I think they all make me look good….way better than I actually am (0;

and yep that is sunshine we have been having finally, which means you better get on my schedule for pictures because my summer is getting booked fast!!!

I know I have fallen off the face of the earth the last few months. My traveling schedule has been getting a little crazy in between regular shoots here in Portland.  I have finally updated my calendar through the fall so be sure to check it out and get on it. It is filling up very quickly.

and now to share real quick a few of these three cuties.  They were the sweetest things and I am so thankful to be able to do this for their amazing momma.

It’s that time of year again…yeah vegas time!  I’m officially off in the morning to Las Vegas for the annual photography convention WPPI.  Going with my favorite girlfriends to cause trouble, learn, check out all the new products to offer my clients and even squeezed in a couple of shoots that I am super excited about.  I’ll be out of reach until thursday the 10th so if you need anything please email my office manager Brienne at polkadotphoto AT gmail DOT com or through the contact form on the portrait website.  Here is a photo from last year there.  what happens in vegas stays in vegas……. peace out……

I’m excited to say I finally sat down and hashed out my spring calendar.  I have lots of traveling and sessions already booked so be sure to book soon before they are gone. Typcially I am booked about two months in advance. In celebration of our changing weather I’m offering a one time sale for any sessions booked and paid for by March 1st. Please read below. The deadline is March 1st and here will be no exceptions. I took my most common orders and products from last year and made packages with those items.
